Instructions

    • 1

Measure the window using your ruler. You will want to be as precise as possible to avoid any gaps.

    • 2

Mark the contact paper to the exact measurements of the window using the pencil and ruler. You only need a small mark to outline the corners of a rectangular design.

    • 3

Lay the ruler from two points, so that the ruler provides a straight edge along one of the sides with that edge facing away from the piece to be cut out. This placement offers protection against cuts gone astray in the next step.

    • 4

Hold the ruler in place firmly, and run the blade of the exacto knife along the edge of the ruler along the measured line. Make certain you have a solid piece of scrap material, such as an old book, smooth board or thick stack of newspapers, under the contact paper, so you do not cut into tabletops or other valuable surfaces.

    • 5

Repeat this cutting procedure until the piece of contact paper is completely cut out.

    • 6

Peel the back of the contact paper off. This will expose the sticky adhesive underneath.

    • 7

Place the top edge of the contact paper against the top edge of the window and carefully pull the bottom part of the paper across the window, making certain the sticky side is toward the window. Using your hand or a shorter ruler, smooth the contact paper out across the window.
