Answer tough interview questions the right way by preparing for them.

When you go on an interview for a customer service position, some of the questions may seem difficult to answer. Some may even seem like trick questions to get you to say the wrong thing. In fact, the interviewer is probably not trying to get you to say the wrong thing but wants to see how qualified you are for the position. You can prepare for tough questions by knowing the right ways to answer them.

Instructions

    • 1

Answer questions about your weaknesses in a manner that makes you look good. For instance, you can state that your weakness is that you find yourself caring too much about the customers or you find it hard to stop taking ownership of the customer's problem.

    • 2

Keep a positive attitude when responding to questions about your worst customer service experience. Answer the question in a way that shows customer satisfaction and problem resolution. For instance, your worst experience may be that you had to spend an entire day on the phone working with an irate customer. The good point is that after working all day, you resolved the problem.

    • 3

Answer questions about your problem-solving abilities with confidence. Give an example of a time you had to resolve a problem. Describe the outcome of the situation and how it was handled based on your decision-making skills. The outcome should be a satisfied customer and a satisfied company.

    • 4

Answer questions about previous customer service managers in a positive manner. If you are asked about experiences, don't make a former manager look bad. This can create a negative impression in the interviewer's mind. As far as your interview is concerned, you have not had any negative experiences with customer service managers.

    • 5

Be honest about the hours you are available. For a customer service job, you may be asked if you can be flexible with your hours. Let the interviewer know what hours you can or cannot work. Don't agree to work hours you know you will be unavailable for.
