Subwoofers can add a new depth to mobile entertainment.

Connecting a car DVD player to an amplifier that is used to power subwoofers is easier than it seems and does not require any special knowledge or skill. The whole task can be completed in less than an hour. Many car DVD players are connected to the central stereo or head unit. However this is not always the case and some cars may have independent DVD players.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the RCA out ports on the DVD player. These should be labeled as "Output." There should be two ports one red and one white.

    • 2

Plug the RCA cable into the ports from step one. Match red with red and white with white. Run the RCA cable to the amplifier.

    • 3

Plug the RCA cable into the amplifier's "Input" ports. These will be identical to the ports on the DVD player; again match colors.

    • 4

Connect a speaker wire to the "Speaker Out + positive" on the amplifier and connect the other end of the speaker wire to the positive "+" terminal on the subwoofer. Connect a speaker wire to the "Speaker Out - negative" on the amplifier and connect the other end of the speaker wire to the negative "-" terminal on the subwoofer. Repeat this step for each subwoofer.

Connect a power wire to the "Power + 12v" of the amplifier. Connect another power wire to the "Negative" or "Ground" of the amplifier. Remember which power wire is positive and which is negative. Run both of these wire to the car's battery.

Connect the positive power wire to the positive power terminal on the battery. Connect the negative wire to the negative terminal on the battery. Turn on the car and DVD player and test the system.
