TomTom map users can choose the level of trust for corrections made by other users.

One of the advantages of TomTom GPS devices is the ability to make manual corrections to a map. In addition to making the changes on your own map, other users can elect to download your map database changes to their own maps. Adding a correction to a TomTom map can be done right from the GPS device in just a few moments. When you connect your device to TomTom Home on your computer, your changes are uploaded to Map Share, the program that facilitates users' exchange of changes.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your TomTom device and go to the main menu.

    • 2

Select "Map corrections"--if you have not previously signed up for Map Share, do so by tapping the "Join Map Share" button.

    • 3

Select the type of map correction you would like to make. You may block or unblock a street, edit a street name, reverse the direction of traffic on a street or highway, change a speed limit, edit a point of interest or add a new point of interest. You can also report other errors by tapping the "Report other error" button.

    • 4

Manually add your corrections and tap "Done" in the lower right-hand corner of the screen when you're finished.
