3D Modeling Halo Guns With Blender Tutorial
Many people who create their own 3-D models like to create their own versions of things they see in movies or video games. Of course, they cannot sell these without violating copyright, but for their own use it is OK. Halo is a highly popular video game, with some of the coolest guns around. You might think that if you want to create your own 3-D model of a Halo gun, you would need an expensive and complex 3-D modeling program like Maya or Lightwave. However, all you have to do is download and install a copy of the freeware program Blender, and you can quickly create 3-D models of almost anything, including Halo guns.

Load a reference image of a Halo gun onto your computer.

Launch Blender. Select the default cube in the view and click "Delete" on your keyboard.

Go to the panel and click "View." From the options, choose "Background Image." In the dialog, browse to and open the reference image you want to use.

Select "Add" from the menu and choose "Mesh." From the options, choose "Cube." Click "S" and, referencing your image, resize the cube to be about the same size as the bottom of the gun handle.

Go to the panel at the bottom and change the "Object Mode" to "Edit Mode." Then click "Face Selection."

Right-click the top face to select it. Click "E" on the keyboard to extrude this shape upward a little. Use the "Move" arrows to position the new relative to the gun handle. You can also increase the size as you work by clicking "S."

Continue using this process of extruding, moving and scaling to produce all of the parts of the gun. Save your work.
