Shower and exfoliate skin. Do not put on any perfume or lotion when you get out of the shower. If possible, do not put on deodorant. Shave about eight hours before you go to the salon.

Put on the smallest bathing suit you own under your clothes. Any skin that is exposed will get tanner on it. Wear loose fitting clothes on top of your bathing suit.

Choose a salon that specializes in airbrush tanning. Meet with the technician at the salon so that she may evaluate the shade of tan you will be getting based on your preference and skin tone.

Remove all clothing but your bathing suit and stand in the spray tan room. The technician will use the airmist tanning spray to evenly cover your skin. This process will only take three to five minutes.

Put your loose fitting clothes back on. Wait about three hours before applying deodorant. Wait about eight hours before going swimming. Your tan will last anywhere from seven to 10 days.
