Sun-kissed skin is a beauty ideal in many parts of the world. If you are seeking a natural glow, consider skipping the tanning bed and get a natural tan fast in the sun. The key to getting the tan is to make sure that you build a base tan and avoid burning. In order to get a natural tan in the sun, it must be regularly sunny in your area.

Exfoliate your skin two to three times per week. Do so using a washcloth and a body scrub. While you're in the shower, wet a washcloth and apply a medium amount of the body scrub to the washcloth. Rub it gently on your skin in circles, starting at your feet and continuing upward until you have covered all of your skin. This is important as dead skin cells will actually block the sun from getting to your skin.

Apply a moisturizing suntan lotion to your skin that contains SPF 8 or 10 in it. This is important so that you don't burn your skin. The moisturizers in the suntan lotion will also help your skin tan more easily. Apply the lotion to your skin 30 minutes before exposure to the sun.

Tan during the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These are the hours at which the sun is at it's strongest. Keep in mind that while you will tan more quickly, you take the risk of burning quickly as well.

Tan in the sun for consecutive days. When trying to get a natural tan fast, tan for two to three consecutive days, with a break in between. Then tan again for consecutive days. Continue this pattern until you achieve the tan that you desire.

Apply a moisturizing lotion to your skin every morning as well as after tanning in the sun. Keeping the skin moisturized ensures that your skin does not dry out. It also will make your tan last longer.
