How to Get a Wedding Planner Certification
Planning weddings isn't easy, but if you have a knack for organization and throwing parties, becoming a wedding planner may be the right career for you. While it is not necessary to get certification, wedding planner certification shows potential clients you take your work seriously and plan to get the job done right. In some states, you may need to provide proof of certification when establishing your business.

Focus your education on event planning and business. You may be able to find courses at your local community college or university that focus on careers in the wedding planning industry, and there are a number of online schools that offer course-specific degrees in wedding planning. If you can't find such an educational program, take courses in hospitality and business management.

Gain experience in your field. Even if you're still a student, gaining experience is necessary for certification. Some certification programs evaluate your experience level before allowing you to apply for certification. You can increase your experience by apprenticing with an experienced wedding planner during and after your education.
