How to Create Audiobooks in iTunes
You don't have to purchase an audiobook to take advantage of its features; you can create your own. Using Apple's audiobook system, you can group similar files together for easy access and customization. Audiobook files are treated differently than music files. ITunes allows you to control playback speed, resume playback and prevent your audiobooks from entering in music playlists. You can classify any audio file as an audiobook in iTunes.
