How to Flash a Clearwire Modem

A "flash," or reset, of Internet networking devices such as modems, routers, switches, hubs and the like is an essential tool for any Internet user. A flash can resolve many of the simple issues an Internet connection can encounter, including slow speeds, an intermittently dropping connection or a lack of connectivity altogether. This is why any technical support or help desk representative will have you try this as a first step. If you use a Clearwire wireless modem and need to flash it, you can do so in just a few basic steps.

Instructions

1. Unplug the power cord from the Clearwire modem. If you do not have access to the AC connection on the back of the modem, you can also unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet or surge protector into which it is plugged. Count for a full 30 seconds before moving on.

2. Plug the power cord back in. You should see the LEDs on the front panel of the modem illuminate, and the modem will begin its boot cycle.

3. Test your connection after the modem's boot cycle is complete (the exact boot time varies depending on which model of Clearwire modem you use, but allowing for at least five minutes should suffice for any model). If you are able to use your net connection again, you have effectively flashed the Clearwire modem.
