How to Fix a Generic Host for Win32 & Svchost EXE Errors

The Generic Host for Win32 & Svchost EXE errors typically occurs in the Windows XP operating system. When you start your computer, you may receive the following error message: "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error." Some of the many symptoms include missing file names in your email attachments, corrupt program files and error messages like "netapi32.dll" and/or '"svchost.exe." You can fix this error from your Windows Registry. Note that modifying or deleting the wrong registry can cause serious issues in your computer.

Instructions

1. Click the Start menu and select "Run." In Windows 7, you will need to manually type "run" without the quotes and press "Enter."

2. Type "regedit" (without the quotes) in the "Run" tool and press the "Enter" key. This will launch your Windows Registry Editor.

3. Navigate to the following registry in the left pane: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"/"SYSTEM"/"CurrentControlSet"/"Services"/"Browser"/"Parameters."

4. Double-click "IsDomainMaster" in the right pane.

5. Type to set "False" under "Value data."

6. Close Registry Editor. Reboot your computer to end task.
