How to Report the Misuse of NCIC
The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) is an electronic system filled with information on more than 15 million active records, according to the FBI website. These records include information on missing persons, stolen property and other crimes. These records are available to every criminal justice agency in the nation. Information held in the NCIC is private; improper access to the files could result confidential information about the people in them potentially being publicized or abused. Reporting this crime to the FBI is important in protecting ethics as well as tax dollars.
