How to Disable Touchpad KDP

KDE is a unique desktop environment designed to incorporate features of Windows, FreeBSD, Linux and Mac, all into one package. Disabling the touchpad is a straightforward process using the KDE software. You are only able to disable the touchpad if it is synaptic, which means that it is not an aftermarket or custom touchpad. One of the greatest benefits of disabling a touchpad is that it will not interfere with mouse positioning when you are typing.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the "Disable - Enable Touchpad" program (see Resources).

    • 2

Copy and paste the downloaded file into the /home/your_username/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus directory (see Resources).

    • 3

Right-click "Disable_Enable_Touchpad.desktop" and expand the "Actions" menu. Click "Disable/Enable Touchpad."

    • 4

Select "Disable Touchpad." Close the window.
