The 1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder was a mid-year model rejuvenation of the 1999 Nissan Pathfinder released less than six months after the original model. The Pathfinder is a sport utility four-wheel drive vehicle that debuted in 1986. Among some of the highlights of the 1999.5 model were improved horsepower and updated interior and exterior styling. Look for new colors. The 1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder was offered in three new color choices. The sequoia green metallic, bayshore blue and aspen white pearl glow colors are the best way to distinguish a 1999 and 1999.5. These colors are in addition to five other that were included form the original model. The 1999 colors still available on the 1999.5 are cayenne red, mahogany pearl, super black, sierra silver and cloud white. The 1999.5 Pathfinder also featured a new trim level called the SE Limited which was produced in two more colors, crimson blaze red and Sherwood green.

Examine the front and rear ends. The front end of the 1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder is completely overhauled. The most noticeable difference is the grill design and higher hood than the 1999 Pathfinder. Multi-Parabola headlights also replaced the standard headlight design of the old model. The rear of the vehicle had a new bumper and redesigned tailgate lamps.

Look for differences in the interior as well. The driver controls most frequently used are located within the driver's vision and are shaped differently to the touch. A new white instrument cluster brightens the vehicle's dashboard as well and may improve visibility for some drivers. Redesigned cloth fabrics and leather option were available in beige and slate.

The 1999.5 model also includes some differences not noticeable to the naked eye such as improved safety features. The SE Limited and LE models were produced with side impact air bags offered with the leather seating package.
The 1999.5 comes equipped with a V-6 engine that has an increased horsepower to 170 and 200 ft-lb of torque. The four-wheel drive models came with a new transfer case that enables the driver to switch to four-wheel drive while the vehicle is moving --- up to 50 mph. The wheels have been made an inch bigger to 16 inches. With the bigger wheel sizes come larger brakes and tires as well.
