How to Unlock a Uniden GPS
Uniden makes three types of GPS navigation systems, with 3.5-, 4- or 4.3-inch LCD touchscreens. No matter what model of Uniden GPS you own, you may need to unlock its functions, especially if you've purchased it secondhand or your base map has become dated. A few problems could be leading to your GPS locking up, but a series of troubleshooting steps can set it free again.

Open the door for your Uniden device's SD card, on the side of the unit, then push in on the card. It should pop out.

Clean any dust and residue from the SD card using the cloth.

Reinsert your SD card into the slot until it is fully seated. Close the door.

Connect your device to a Web-ready computer with your USB cable. Turn both devices on.

Navigate to the Uniden Support Account Registration page to register with Uniden. (Software upgrades aren't available without first registering.) Fill your personal data into the fields, then click on "Submit."

Go to the second link in the Resources section Uniden Register Product for Software Upgrades page and log in with the username sent to your email address and your chosen password, then click, "Log in". You will be asked for product specific information. After you've entered this data, you will be forwarded to a page with available downloads for your particular device.

Click on the free firmware or software upgrade for your device, then "Save" to put the file in a convenient location on your computer.

Double-click on the icon for the upgrade, after it's fully downloaded, then select "Run." Follow the prompts to install the software onto your Uniden device. These actions should unlock your device. If not, contact the Uniden support department at (800) 297-1023 for more assistance.
