How to Use an Old DTV Receiver for FTA

DTV receivers are used to convert the digital broadcast into analog. This is useful for older televisions that are unable to view digital programming or have the appropriate connection ports installed. If you are using an FTA (Free-to-air) satellite receiver that only has RCA video outputs, but your television is limited to a coaxial cable connection, it is possible to use the DTV receiver in conjunction with the satellite receiver and TV in order to view the programming.

Things You'll Need

• RCA audio/video cables
• Coaxial cable
• FTA receiver

Instructions

1. Connect the RCA audio/video cables into the "Video Out" ports on the FTA satellite receiver.

2. Insert the other ends of the RCA audio/video cables into the "Video In" ports on the DTV receiver.

3. Attach the coaxial cable into the "Out" port on the DTV receiver, then plug the free end of the cable into the "In" port on the television.

4. Power on the TV, DTV receiver and the FTA receiver. Change the station on the TV to channel 3. The satellite programming now appears on the television screen.
