How to Make an Alcohol Stove Windscreen
Creating a windscreen for your alcohol stove will allow you to better use the stove in windy conditions. By utilizing some very basic materials, a simple windscreen can easily be constructed. This will allow you to more easily cook a hot meal when out on the trail hiking or out camping in windy conditions. The ability to cook a hot meal in windy conditions will certainly improve morale for everyone involved in the hike or camping trip.
Things You'll Need
- 2 soda cans
- Epoxy putty
- Metal snips
- Pliers
- 6-inch long 2-by-6 wood block

Remove the tops and bottoms from the soda cans by cutting them off with the metal snips.

Cut down one side of each of the soda cans.

Flatten the soda cans on your working surface by using the wood block to rub over them until they lie flat.

Join the two small, flat metal sheets together by using the epoxy putty along one side of each sheet to create a large flat metal sheet. Then use the pliers to crimp the edges of the large metal sheet. This is to create a dull edge all the way around in order to prevent someone from getting cut by the windscreen.

Bend the large metal sheet into a circular shape to create the windscreen that will fit around your alcohol stove.
