How to Build an Adult Tricycle
Tricycles are not just for young kids. Adults, the elderly and older children may need extra stability for safety purposes. If your balance is not firm or you have a disability, you can enjoy outdoor activities on an adult tricycle with a decreased likelihood of falling. An adult tricycle promotes mobility and freedom and an opportunity to safely get exercise.

1
Secure the front wheel with pedals to a bicycle rack on a flat surface. Insert the head tube to the front of the body and to the top of the front wheel.
-
2
Slide the headset lock ring on the front wheel tube that juts out from the tricycle head tube. Twist the lock ring in a clockwise direction with your hand to fasten it in place.
-
-
3
Place the stem clamp on the headset lock ring allowing the clamp to face the front of the tricycle.
Insert the handlebar to the steering tube.
-
4
Grab your adjustable wrench and set it on the stem clamp. Take another identical wrench and place it on the headset lock ring. Each wrench should turn in opposite directions to secure the connection.
-
5
Position the handle bar with sides that are perpendicular to your front wheel. Tighten the stem clamp and the headset with the two wrenches until the connection is secure.
-
6
Thread the axle through the tube on the rear for adequate tire support. Place a wheel on the right side of the axle and slide a washer on and fasten with a nut. Do the same thing for the left wheel.
-
7
Place a seat on the top of the frame as the final step. Tighten with nut to secure seat in place at a comfortable height for the rider.
