How to Refill a Mini Butane Torch
A mini butane torch can be used for caramelizing sugar in the kitchen, lighting a cigar in the den or shrinking heat tubing around electrical wires on a job site. Mini butane torches are available in different sizes and from a variety of manufacturers. The butane fuel used is commonly stored in a tank in the base of the torch. The torch lighter tank can be refueled when it is depleted, using a butane refill canister.

Locate the flame adjustment screw on the mini butane torch. Look for a slotted screw on the bottom of the mini torch.

Insert the tip of a small-blade screwdriver into the slot of the screw. Turn the screw to the minimum setting or toward the minus (-) sign as indicated on the torch.

Hold the mini butane torch so the fuel fill valve is pointing away from you. Press the tip of the screwdriver blade against the the fill valve to release any remaining fuel and air in the torch tank.

Turn the mini torch so the filler valve is facing up. Hold a butane refill canister with the tip down. Press the tip of the refill canister against the filler valve of the torch.

Hold the tip of the refill canister against the filler valve of the torch for at least eight to 10 seconds. Remove the refill canister and adjust the flame height back to the desired position. Allow the butane fuel in the canister to reach room temperature before using the torch.
