Instructions for a Brother Intellifax 2800

The Brother Intellifax 2800 can not only send and receive fax transmissions, but it can also make copies of original documents. The Intellifax 2800 has an automatic document feeder that sends loose leaf documents through the device’s sheet-fed scanner. Once the 2800 has scanned a document, it can either produce copies of the document or send it electronically over a fax line for delivery to another fax machine. You must plug the device into a working phone jack with a phone line to send or receive faxes.

Sending and Receiving Faxes

Press the 2800’s “Power” button to turn the device on, then place the original document to be faxed face-down in the document feeder. Dial the fax number using the device’s keypad, then press the “Fax Start” button to send the document.

Send a cover sheet with the document by pressing “Menu/Set,” then “2,” then “2,” then “8” after you have loaded the document in the document feeder. Press the “Menu/Set” button when the display reads “Next Fax Only?” and use the arrow keys to select either “On” or “Off.”

Press the “Menu/Set” button to save you selection. Use the number keys to enter the total number of pages you will be sending in the document.

Press the “2” button, then type the number you wish to send the document to. Press the “Fax Start” button to begin the fax transmission.

Press the “Receive Mode” button repeatedly until the answer mode you wish to use appears on the device’s screen. To receive a fax manually, lift up the device’s handset and press the “Fax Start” button if you hear a fax tone over the line. Hang up the receiver once the display reads “Receiving.”

Make Copies

Place the original document face-down in the device document feeder tray. Adjust the document guides so they touch the edges of the loaded document without bending the papers.

Make a single copy by pressing the “Copy” button. Retrieve the original document from the document output tray and the copies from the other output tray.

Make multiple copies of the document by entering the number of copies you would like to make using the device’s numeric keypad. Press the “Copy” button, then retrieve the original document and the copies from the device’s two output trays.
