How to Replace a Palm TX Digitizer

The digitizer screen on your Palm TX PDA is the touch-screen LCD located on the front of the unit. A damaged or cracked digitizer screen can be devastating to the unit as a whole. The good news is that it's possible to remove and replace a damaged or broken digitizer screen on your own.

      Turn the TX off and turn the unit over. Remove the four screws located on the back corners of the unit.

      Use your fingers to pry the back half of the unit from the front. Unplug the battery cable that runs from the back of the case to its port on the motherboard in the front half. Set the back half aside.

      Remove the rectangular plastic frame from the top of the unit and set it aside.

      Unplug the two ribbon cables from their ports on the motherboard.

      Remove the motherboard from the unit and set it aside.

    • 6

      Lift the screen out of the unit and set it aside. Fit a new screen in the old one's place and reverse the steps for reassembly.
