Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your machine for easy access to the bobbin. Raise the take-up lever to its highest position; turn the hand wheel toward you to do this. Lift the presser foot and open the slide plate. The bobbin inside should be empty; if it is not, remove the excess thread from the bobbin.

    • 2

Turn the pattern-selector release lever clockwise. Set the stitch control dials to the straight stitch, centered position, shortest stitch length.

    • 3

Move the bobbin latch to the right for the winding position. Pull the thread from the needle between the toes of the presser foot, back and to the left of the presser foot and up, into and around the thread retainer. Let go of the thread end and start the machine at a moderate speed.

    • 4

Pull the thread end away when it separates from the bobbin. Watch as the bobbin fills, and stop the machine when it reaches the full ring.

    • 5

Close the slide plate; this will release the bobbin into the sewing position. Pull the thread back behind the presser foot and cut the excess, then begin sewing as normal.
