How to Rent a Car for a Year
Long-term car rentals are more difficult to obtain because many car rental companies are not comfortable with engaging in longer rental terms. However, if you know that you will only need your car for a 12-month period, engaging in a one-year rental agreement may be much cheaper than trying to lease or purchase a car, even a used one.

1
Find car-rental companies that engage in long-term rental reservations with customers. Many of the best-known car-rental businesses, including Enterprise, Avis and Alamo, will only let customers rent a car for 11 months at the most.
-
2
Contact local chambers of commerce to find as many car-rental companies as you can; local companies may be more willing to engage in longer rental terms.
-
-
3
Contact each car-rental company that you've identified, and get quotes for a one-year rental term. You should be given a choice of cars from which to choose your rental.
-
4
Compare the quotes and the quality of the cars to find the most cost-effective choice. For instance, you may decide that air conditioning is a necessity.
-
5
Sign a rental agreement for the one-year rental term with the car-rental company. The rental agreement will explain how many miles the car had been driven prior to the rental, how much gas it had, the condition of the vehicle, whether any additional drivers can drive the rental and other terms of the agreement.

Tips & Warnings
Read the entire rental agreement, including the fine print. Surcharges and extra fees for small things, such as returning your car half an hour late on the return date, can add unnecessary charges to your bill.
