How to Load FTA Files

How to Load FTA Files thumbnail
You must keep your FTA receiver up-to-date with the latest FTA files.

FTA, or free-to-air, is a satellite option that accepts unencrypted satellite signals. FTA is different from pay-to-use services such as Dish Network and DirecTV that use encryption to protect the programming obtained by the product service. However, in order to keep your FTA receiver up-to-date, you must load FTA files onto the hardware. Once you obtained the FTA files from the receiver's manufacturing website, it is simple to upload the content to the receiver.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the USB flash drive into one of the USB ports on your computer. Close out the AutoPlay window that loads onto the screen.

    • 2

Right-click the FTA files you have obtained. Choose "Send To" followed by "Unzip" from the pull-down window. This loads the zip extraction software screen.

    • 3

Select the USB flash drive as the location you want to save the files to, then click "OK" to extract the data.

    • 4

Click "Start" followed by "Computer." Right-click the removable device icon, and then select "Eject" from the pull-down menu. Disconnect the flash drive from the computer once the icon disappears.

    • 5

Turn off the FTA receiver, and then plug the USB flash drive into the hardware's USB drive. Power on the receiver. Files from the flash drive automatically load onto the FTA receiver.
