How to Disassemble the IRiver T10
IRiver is best known for manufacturing personal audio players. As with most MP3 players, the IRiver is a versatile device that allows you to upload and store multiple gigabytes of music onto one platform. However, shelf-life is the drawback of these small devices. It's common for an internal component to get damaged or require replacement. But you can save money by knowing how to disassemble the device to diagnose and fix small problems.

1
Flip the device over and remove its backing plate. Wedge a thin object, such as a guitar pick or pocket knife, into the back of the IRiver and run it along the edge to pop off the back cover. You may need to make a few passes around the cover before it comes free.
-
2
Locate and remove the four Phillips screws now visible after removing the back cover. Make sure to set the screws aside together so you know which ones go in the proper place for reassembly.

3
Turn the device over so you are looking at the screen. Wedge the thin object you used in Step 1 into the edge of the screen to separate it from the remaining plastic casing. Since the screws were removed the screen will lift out freely, but you must remove it so that it will clear the notch for the headphone jack.
-
4
Flip the IRiver over so the screen is facing down. Unscrew the four Phillips screws that hold the LCD screen to the green motherboard. Once the screws are removed, lift up slightly on one end of the motherboard so the orange connector strip underneath the motherboard becomes visible.
-
5
Unplug the orange connector from the bottom of the motherboard with the thin object you used earlier. Insert it under the corner of the connection and gently separate it from the motherboard. You will now be able pull the motherboard and LCD screen apart.
