Using an oven reduces drying time for enamel paint dramatically.

Enamel paint has a long drying time and can take up to three weeks to dry in the open air. It's important to allow the enamel paint to dry completely as it is during this process that the paint hardens. If you want your enameled object to dry more quickly, you can speed up this process by using a conventional oven. Using this method, you can reduce the drying time of your enamel object from three weeks to overnight.

Instructions

    • 1

Leave the painted object in the open air for one hour to let the paint start drying.

    • 2

Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 3

Place the object into the 350-degree oven and leave it for 30 minutes.

    • 4

Turn off the oven and allow it to cool with the enameled object still inside. Do not remove the object until the oven has cooled to room temperature. This can take around five hours, but if you are unsure, leave the object in the oven overnight.

    • 5

Remove the item and wash it by hand using a mild soap. Allow to dry on your dish rack. It will then be ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use enamel paint on surfaces that are going to come into direct contact with food.

  • Do not remove the object from the oven until it has cooled to room temperature; otherwise, it might crack or break completely.
