How to Organize Pill Bottles
Medications can become lost, forgotten or expired when a household has multiple pill bottles in several locations. Organize your pill bottles to prevent confusion about their contents, eliminate unneeded medications and find your pills quickly when you need them. Once you've established an organizational system, stick to it to avoid a headache the next time you need a bottle of aspirin. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Gather all of your pill bottles and examine the expiration dates and names on the labels. Throw away any bottles that are expired.
-
2
Mark each bottle with an adhesive label. Label the bottles with the names of each person in your household. Include information on when to take the medication, proper dosage, potential drug interactions and other specifications.
-
-
3
Place all the bottles in a small storage bin. A bin with multiple drawers is ideal for separating medications for different household members or organizing daily and non-daily pills.
-
4
Hang a dry-erase board or bulletin board near the organizing bin. Household members should write down the pills they need refilled and the date they need them. Write a reminder for everyone to throw away his or her empty pill bottles.
