Hold the handlebars while stepping one foot onto the lowest pedal. Slowly step your other foot onto the other pedal and push the pedals until they begin to move in a continuous motion. After a few seconds, the console will light up.

Choose your mode of exercise from the six preset programs. You can also choose manual mode, which will allow you to determine the intensity of your workout. Press "start" to activate your choice.

Place your hands on the upper body arms and push and pull them while you are working out. This will work your upper body and help you burn more calories.

Turn on the fan if desired. Press the fan button once for a low fan and twice for a high fan.

Measure your heart rate by placing your hands on the handgrip pulse sensor. Keep your hands on the sensors for at least 15 seconds. Your heart rate will be displayed on the console. You can also wear a chest pulse sensor, which comes with the elliptical.

Change the resistance level of your program by pressing the resistance buttons.
