How to Measure a Curved Handrail

Things You'll Need

• Open reel tape measure
• Push pin

Instructions

1. Push a pin into a hidden area at one end of the handrail. This will hold the end of the reel tape in place.

2. Slide the loop at the end of the reel tape over the head of the push pin. Unwind the reel as you slide the tape onto the handrail and guide it along the curve.

3. Continue guiding the tape along the curve until you reach the end. Read the measurement on the tape measure. This is the length of the curved handrail.

• Ask for the assistance of a friend or family member if the handrail is long.

• Check your measurement twice to verify the length.
