How to Run Your Nitro Truck in the Snow
Chrysler offers four wheel drive as an option for its Dodge Nitro SUV's. It's recommended by automobile enthusiasts to choose this option if you intend to run your Nitro in the snow since snow can often make roads impassable for two-wheel drive Dodge Nitros. Be aware though that steering, starting, stopping and handling characteristics are different compared to dry pavement or rain conditions. Running your Nitro truck in the snow can be accomplished by following some guidelines.

1
Attach safety belts to all occupants, including rear seat passengers. Rotate the transfer case switch to the "4WD Lock" position while the Dodge Nitro is stationary. The switch is located in the center console.
-
2
Start the Dodge Nitro and progress by making a gradual, smooth increase in speed. Do not suddenly change speed or direction, or you can lose control. Turn the steering wheel into the direction of any slide that occurs, until you regain control.

3
Brake gradually and evenly when you want to stop. Be aware that two wheel-drive vehicles and 4WD perform the same when stopping--there is no advantage to 4WD when braking. Avoid locking the wheels by allowing plenty of distance for normal stopping and also emergency stopping.
-
4
Squeeze by pushing on the brake pedal with steadily increasing pressure. This allows the Nitro to stop while you still have control over the wheel roll, and consequently steering. If the wheels lock, repeat the squeeze, but don't pump as you would have done in a non-anti lock brake vehicle. Bring the Nitro to a gradual stop.
