How to Install New Program Codes on Dish Network Satellites thumbnail
Keep your satellite dish up-to-date to view the latest programming.

Pay-to-use satellite receivers, such as those used by Dish Network, require an access card to unlock the scrambled programming obtained by the dish. This access card contains program codes that tell the receiver how exactly to unlock the signals. If you are looking to change your satellite programming, you do need a new program access card to instruct the receiver of the changes.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact Dish Network at 800-823-4929 and request to change your current service. Add additional programming packages or reduce the number of stations you pay for.

    • 2

Pick up the programming access card from a local Dish Network service center or request that the new card to be mailed to you. Waiting for the mailed access card may take upwards of a week.

    • 3

Power down the Dish Network satellite receiver, then open the front panel access slot.

    • 4

Slide out the current program access card, then insert the new card into the satellite receiver. Power on the receiver and the programming codes automatically upload onto the Dish Network receiver.
