How to Replace Peachtree Accounting with Open Source
Peachtree is commercial software for accounting. Unfortunately, Peachtree is not free, like many open source alternatives. You may want to replace your Peachtree accounting software with an open source option to cut costs, to limit your reliance on vendors or simply to try something new. You should thoroughly research open source alternatives if you plan to replace Peachtree with open source software.

Download an open source alternative to Peachtree (see Resources).

Click "Start" and "Control Panel."

Double-click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon. If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, it will be labeled "Programs and Features."

Locate and select your installation of Peachtree. Click "Uninstall" to uninstall Peachtree. The button will either be to the right of the installation entry or at the top of the window, depending on your operating system.

Locate the open source software you downloaded. Double-click it to begin the installation.

Follow the self-explanatory steps for installing your software. Keep the default settings for now. If you are prompted to make selections about how you will use the software, use your best judgment according to the needs of your business.

Reboot your computer if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
You may or may not be able to export data from Peachtree to your open source software. Check with the manufacturer of your new software or refer to your documentation to see about import options, and check your Peachtree user's manual for export details.
Some options may require the use of additional open source software.
