How to Increase Color Saturation on a Nikon

Color saturation describes the dominance of a specific color's hue when viewing that color. A higher color saturation will mean that the color will appear more pronounced, since the blue wavelengths from the color are mostly from the middle of the blue spectrum. Nikon digital cameras don't allow you to change color saturation at a percentage level, but they offer you several general levels of saturation to choose from.

Instructions

1. Turn your Nikon camera on. This process will be a little different depending on the model of Nikon camera, but most have a power switch or wheel on the top of the right side.

2. Press the "Menu" button on the back of the camera to see the menu on the LCD screen.

3. Press "Left" on the directional pad to highlight the listing of menus on the left side of the screen. Scroll to "Shooting Menu," which is normally the second from the top, and press "Enter."

4. Scroll to "Optimize Image" and press "Enter."

5. Scroll to "More Vivid" and press "OK" to load that option. "More Vivid" will maximize color saturation, contrast and sharpness. If you only want to change the color saturation, scroll to "Custom" and press "Enter." Then scroll to "Enhanced" and press "Enter."
