There are certain ways to cut cardboard easily.

When people send you packages, they usually arrive in cardboard boxes of different sizes. If you have too many cardboard boxes building up in your home as a result, you can recycle the boxes by breaking them down and taking them to a recycling center. In order to break down a cardboard box, you can cut the cardboard in certain ways that will enable the box to fold flat, which will allow you to transport the cardboard easily to the recycling center.

      Place a cardboard box onto the floor with the top facing down. Adjust the box so that the center line of the bottom is facing vertically in reference to your position.

      Slide a box cutter from left to right across the top edge of the box.

      Slide the box cutter from left to right across the bottom edge.

    • 4

      Hold the top edge in your hand, and use the other hand to slide the box cutter straight down through the mid-line. This will effectively cut the tape that was securing the bottom of the box.

      Turn the box top side up, and repeat the process with the top of the box, if needed.

      Fold the flaps on the top and bottom of the box so that they are sticking out of the box,

      Place the box on one of its sides on the floor, and gently push down on the box to flatten it. Since the top and bottom of the box are cut, the box will flatten easily.
