1
Remove as much of the excess gum as possible. Doing so will enable you to use less peanut butter for the job. This will limit the size of stain the peanut butter leaves behind, if the gum is stuck to fabric. Use ice on the gum to help you complete this step.

2
Take peanut butter and spread it over the gum. Only apply it to the area with the gum on it. There is no need to add any more than that, as it will leave you with a bigger mess to clean. If you are using it on your hair, then use clips to pull the rest of your hair away from the affected part.

3
Mash the gum and the peanut butter together with your fingers. Then leave it for 15 minutes.

4
Remove the peanut butter and the gum. You will need to use different methods for this depending on where the gum is stuck: for hair, wash thoroughly with shampoo and for fabric, either scrub with a damp cloth or scrape with a blunt knife.

5
Immediately wash your item of clothing affected by the peanut butter stain that is left behind. For a carpet, apply some liquid dishwashing detergent and hot water to the stain before scrubbing with a cloth.
