How to Change to Routes on a Garmin
Sometimes staring at the Garmin map for too long can give you a headache, and because it always points forward, it can be hard to understand where you're actually located and where you're going. Changing to Routes can help you see the directions with words rather than a general map of the area you are driving in.

Turn on you Garmin device and program it to direct you to your destination.

Select "View Map" from the Garmin home screen.

Click the very top of the Garmin screen while on the Map. In this area, there is usually the wording for your next direction. When you click that bar, you will be taken to the Routes screen of the Garmin and you will be able to view your directions step by step.
