How to Increase Mustang Horsepower
The Ford Mustang is a sports/muscle car that was originally offered to the public in 1964 and remains in production to this day. Although the styling, engine and various other aspects of the Mustang have changed over the years, all Mustangs are two-door, rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Mustangs are designed for performance, and there are a larger number of aftermarket upgrades that can improve the horsepower of a stock Mustang.

Install a supercharger or turbocharger to the engine. Superchargers and turbochargers are forced-air induction systems, which force large amounts of air into the air/fuel mixture within the engine. This in turn drastically increases the horsepower of your Mustang.

Replace the stock cold air intake with a performance aftermarket cold air intake. The cold air intake filters and directs air from the environment into the engine. Aftermarket cold air intakes allow more air to flow and also filter the air more efficiently, which increases both horsepower and fuel efficiency.

Replace the stock exhaust system with a performance aftermarket exhaust system. Exhaust systems allow air to flow out of the engine bay, and a wider, less restrictive exhaust will allow more airflow. Having more airflow increases the horsepower of the Mustang and also makes the engine louder and more aggressive sounding.

Add a nitrous oxide injection system. Nitrous oxide injection systems add nitrous to the fuel mixture of the Mustang, which provides a vary large, but temporary boost to horsepower.

Tune your Mustang using a performance aftermarket tuner. A tuner will provide a slight horsepower increase to a stock Mustang, but more important, a tuner will maximize the horsepower gains provided by other performance aftermarket parts. It is recommended that you re-tune your Mustang anytime you install a new performance modification.
