How to Customize a Water Bottle

You can customize a water bottle as a gift for a loved one.

Metal water bottles are quickly replacing plastic bottles as a means to stay hydrated throughout the day. If you are planning to purchase a metal water bottle, you can have the bottle customized by having an image you personally design placed onto the bottle by a print-on-demand company. Once the design is completed and the bottle is printed, you can give the custom water bottles as thoughtful gifts to family members or friends.

Things You'll Need

• Graphics program
• Computer

Instructions

1. Open a graphics program on your computer.

2. Type the dimensions for a water bottle inside the new window. For both the height and width, type in 3.5 inches. For the resolution, type in 300 DPI. Click "OK" to see the new image file appear on the screen.

3. Place words onto the screen print by clicking on the text tool, which looks like a capital "T" inside the tool box. The tool box looks like a vertical box to the right of the screen.

4. Click on your image file, and drag out a box. The box will be marquee, and will highlight the area where you want the text to be. Type inside the box to add the text.

5. Change the appearance of the text using the text tool, located in the upper center of the screen. You can change the font, color and size of the text inside the highlighted area.

6. Save the image file by clicking on "File" and selecting "Save As" from the list. A window will pop up asking for a file name and file type. Type in a name for your file, and select the file type "JPEG." Click "OK" to save the file. The file will now be ready to upload onto a print-on-demand website, which will allow you to place the image onto a metal water bottle.
