How to Start a Husqvarna 359 Chainsaw

Save

Husqvarna manufactures a wide variety of dependable outdoor equipment. The Husqvarna 359 chainsaw continues that passion of dependability. It is a medium-duty chainsaw that can handle most cutting projects around the home and property. Starting the Husqvarna 359 chainsaw is made less difficult with the addition of a decompression valve. This valve relieves the pressure inside the cylinder requiring less effort to start the engine.

Things You'll Need

  • Husqvarna 359 chainsaw
  • Place the Husqvarna 359 chainsaw on the ground. The chain bar is angled slightly and remains off the ground with the bottom of the chainsaw sitting flat.

  • Push the front hand guard forward to activate the chain brake. Pull the choke lever out to the choke position. The choke lever is below the start switch on the left rear of the chainsaw. The start switch automatically raises to the start position.

  • Press the decompression valve on the right side of the Husqvarna 359. This valve reduces cylinder pressure and helps when starting the engine. Always press the valve in before starting. Once the chainsaw starts the valve comes back out to its normal position.

  • Insert the front of your right shoe inside the chainsaw handle and grab the front handle with your left hand. Grab the starter rope in your right hand and pull it out slowly until you feel resistance.

  • Pull sharply on the starter rope and slowly allow it to rewind into the chainsaw. You might have to repeat the pulling process several times if the engine is cold. Once the engine starts, push in the choke valve and press and release the throttle trigger.

  • Pick up the chainsaw by the front and rear handles. Pull the front guard toward the front handle to disengage the chain brake.
