How to Add Side Banners to Joomla 1.5 thumbnail
Joomla allows users to customize elements of their webpage using 3rd party modules.

Joomla is a free website development application that is server based, meaning that editing happens via the server end, not locally on the computer. Adding banners to a Joomla based site is simple, as Joomla has a "Banners" feature built in to the program. This allows users to create their own banner rotation system, display several banners and customize the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the Joomla back-end for the website by visiting "yourURL.com/administrator" and enter in the appropriate login information.

    • 2

      Click "Component," then "Banner."

    • 3

Click "+ New" button to add a new banner. Enter the name of the banner. Select "Show Banner." If the number of times the banner is shown is limited then enter that number in "Impressions Purchased" or click "Unlimited."

Enter the "Click URL." Select the image for the banner using "Banner Image Selector." Specify any "Width" or "Height" restrictions for the banner if the image is not already formated. Click "Save."

    • 4

Click "Extensions," then "Module Manager." Click the "+ New" button to create a new banner tab on the website. This will open the "Module Details" page. Select "Enabled."

Select the "Position" to determine where the banner box is placed on the page. Select "Order" to determine what menu items the new banner module will appear under or before. Select any "Module Parameters" for those running multiple banners. Click "Save."

    • 5

Navigate to the URL of the Joomla website and preview the banner ad, which should now be displayed on the page. Go back into the admin console of Joomla to make any further changes.
