Repair Script Errors in IE8

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) displays a runtime error when the Web page cannot properly run one of Internet Explorer's scripts. Each error message that displays in IE8 is different, depending on the type of scripts running at the time. One of the most common error messages, "Runtime Error! Program:C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe," crashes the browser's window. Solving the scripting errors involves turning off two settings in the Internet Options of IE8. In doing so, you should receive minimal errors in the future.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Internet Explorer 8 and then click the "Tools" menu.

    • 2

Click the "Internet Options" link from the menu and then click the "Advanced" tab.

    • 3

Click the "Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)" and "Disable script debugging (Other)" checkboxes and then click the "Display a notification about every script error" checkbox.

    • 4

Click the "OK" button to apply the changes and close the window. Restart Internet Explorer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are still experiencing scripting errors, try restarting your computer. If this still fails to resolve the issue, it is most likely the Web page itself.
