How to Hide Task Bar Buttons
The task bar is a system toolbar that is one of the primary features of Windows operating systems which contains a list of open windows as well as program shortcut buttons, the "Start" button and various system notification icons. Certain buttons, such as the "Start" button and buttons for each open program are task bar features that cannot be altered but many of the buttons and icons on the task bar can be hidden or removed.

Right-click on any program shortcut button on the task bar and then click "Unpin this program from task bar" to remove the button from the task bar.

Right-click the task bar, click "Properties," click "Customize" under "Notification Area," click "Turn system icons on or off," and click "Off" for each system icon that you want to remove from the task bar (system clock, power options, sound options etc.).

Right-click the task bar, click "Properties," click "Customize" under "Notification Area," and select "Only show notifications" for each icon that you want to hide from appearing in the notification area on the task bar.

Right click the taskbar, click "Properties," click "Auto-hide the task bar" and click "OK." When you choose this option, the whole task bar will be hidden but it will pop up when you drag the mouse to the edge of the screen where the task bar is located.

Tips & Warnings
You can move the task bar to the sides or top of the screen by clicking the bar, holding down the mouse button and then dragging the mouse across the screen. The task bar must unlocked in order to move it. If the task bar is locked, right-click the task bar and click "Lock the task bar" to unlock it.
