1
Visit the HP website (see Resources) to search for the specific memory that will match your computer. At the top of the HP site type, "Pavilion 8760c Specifications" into the Questions/Keywords search box. Then navigate to the section titled Memory for specific information regarding the type of memory your system needs.
-
2
Unplug your computer from its power source.
-
-
3
Remove the screws holding the outside of the computer tower onto the base. These screws are in the back of the Pavilion 8760c on the right side, one at the top and one at the bottom. Once removed the metal side of the tower will simply lift off.
-
4
Locate the RAM modules and determine if you have available slots empty for more. If not you will have to remove the old RAM to install the new. Your sticks of RAM will have a plastic latch at each end holding them in place. Press down on both of these to free the RAM. It may take a little force. Once they are down the RAM should pull straight out of the slot.
-
5
Insert the new RAM into the proper slot on the motherboard. The RAM is keyed to fit in only one direction. Press down firmly to seat the RAM and re-engage the plastic latches that lock them into place.
-
6
Reassemble the Pavilion 8760 tower cover onto the side and reinstall the two screws that you removed to secure the tower cover. Plug in your computer and boot up your system. Your PC will automatically recognize the new RAM upon starting. You should notice an improvement in general speed and reaction time.

Tips & Warnings
RAM sticks are sold widely through online retailers and local computer stores.
Work in a non-carpeted room to reduce static electricity buildup, which is deadly to a PC.
Working on a flat surface, such as a kitchen table, is the best option for performing this task.
Be sure to remove your PC from the power source before removing the tower cover and performing any work inside the computer at all. Be careful of any sharp edges once the tower is removed, either on the cover or inside the case.
