How to Update a Canon BJC-5100 Printer Setup

The relationship between your computer and your Canon BJC-5100 printer is based solely on the setup you completed when you installed the printer. The name, security and many of printing options were all decided during setup. If you decide later that you want to tweak those settings, you have to go into the BJC-5100's printer properties to make your changes.

      Click "Start" on the computer your Canon BJC-5100 is setup on.

      Click "Devices and Printers" in the Start menu.

      Highlight the Canon BJC-5100 in the list of printers installed on the computer. Double-click the icon.

      Click "Customize your printer." Adjust the setup settings as desired, including the name of the printer and the sharing options. Click "Ok" to save your changes.

      Click "Adjust print options." Make changes to the default print settings, such as feed or layout. Click "Ok" to save your changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Changing the Canon BJC-5100's setup options will only affect this computer's relationship with the printer. If the BJC-5100 is being shared with several other computers, you will have to make those changes on each one.

  • You have to be a Windows administrator to change the properties of a printer. If your user account isn't set to administrator, you will have to ask the administrator of your computer to help you.
