How to Write a Business Brochure

How to Write a Business Brochure thumbnail
Business and travel brochures are excellent for advertising.

Guidelines for writing business brochures are the same, no matter what type of business it is. Key points about the business must be emphasized, such as the products available or the service being offered. Include descriptions of the professionalism and expertise of the staff. The business brochure is a written summary of the history of the business. The information should be condensed into brief, short paragraphs. The most common type of brochure is a tri-fold, done on regular copy paper; brochures are also produced on a single folded paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Plan out on regular paper exactly how you want the brochure to look. Decide if it will be a single-fold or tri-fold brochure. For a tri-fold brochure, divide the paper horizontally into three even sections. For a single fold brochure only two sections are needed. The front of the brochure, or section 1, should contain only the company name and contact information along with the company logo, if there is one.

    • 2

Create condensed paragraphs that explain what the company has to offer. This should be section 2 on a tri-fold brochure. Section 3 on this side could provide price lists and additional information on the company.

On a single fold brochure, place part of the information on the left side of a horizontal page and the rest on the right half.

    • 3

Type the information you have decided to use into a brochure template in a Word program on your computer. If you do not have a brochure template, type the columns in any basic writing program. There should be a column setting in the drop-down format menu in the top toolbar. Put the first section at the left margin and create the other two columns.

    • 4

Create the second page using the three columns. Print the first page, turn it over and reinsert it in the printer. Print the second page on the back of the first. Check the completed page to make sure the margins are correct. It should fold into three even sections. Make any corrections that are necessary and print it again.

A single fold brochure will be printed on both sides, but one half of the side that contains the front may be left blank if there is no additional information to add.

    • 5

Print a few brochures, wait a couple days and look at them again. Many times, errors or changes are not noticeable until after they have been printed If there are no new corrections, take one to a print shop and have as many copies made as you need or if you have a copier, print your own.
