Garlands make attractive and suitable decor for just about any area of your home at any time of year, though many people only decorate with garlands during the holiday season. While you can use various materials and designs for your garland, if this is your first time making one, go for an easier design, such as a ribbon garland. Ribbon garlands lend a classic look to your home decor and their shape is easy to coordinate with various types of furniture and styles.
Things You'll Need
- Artificial garland
- Floral wire
- Floral touches
- Hot glue gun
Set up a long tabletop to work on. Lay an artificial garland on the table and wrap ribbons around it with the aid of floral wire. Wrap the garland with ribbon from end to end.
Twist the ends of the floral wire every few feet to make sure that the ribbons are securely fastened to the garland.
Attach floral touches to the garland with a hot glue gun. Scatter the flowers evenly over the entire piece, maintaining at least 6 inches of space between each flower.
Add ribbon bows in between the flowers by wrapping ribbon strips around the garland and tying each strip into a simple bow. Add further embellishments as desired.
Hang the garland on a wall, over a door or window or wrap it around your stairway railing, affixing each end with a big ribbon. Drape the garland every few feet for an extra-decorative touch.
