How to Install a Volume Control Icon

Volume Control is necessary to turn sound up or down and adjust settings.

The Volume Control icon in Windows is located in the task bar; it allows you to turn the volume up or down and adjust the mixer. Without the icon, you are restricted to using the default settings for sound on your computer. You may not have installed the Volume Control icon, since it does not display by default. You will need to install the icon to adjust sound settings.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" and go to "Run."

2. Type "mmsys.cpl" in the "Run" box and click "OK."

3. Click the check box next to the option "Place volume icon in the taskbar." Click "OK."
