With Virtual Boy Advance, you use your keyboard to control the game.

The Visual Boy Advance is an emulator for both the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance, and you can use it to play games from both systems on your computer. In addition to emulating the game, Visual Boy Advance offers a number of improvements to the original system, including the ability to make screen shots, save games and apply graphical filters. In addition, you can use the system's tradelink to share data between games, either on a single computer or between different computers.

Instructions

    • 1

Start Virtual Boy Advance. If you want to use the link on a single system, open a second instance of it. If you want to use the link to connect to a different computer, open it on the second computer, as well.

    • 2

Click "Options" and then "Emulator." Uncheck "Pause when inactive window" if it is checked. Do so in both instances, otherwise they will fail to properly synchronize.

    • 3

Click "Options," "Joypad," "Default Joypad" and then select "1" for the first instance and "2" for the second instance. This ensures that the game will be controlled using different keys.

    • 4

Click "Options" and then "Link." Under "Settings" select if you're using a "Single Computer" or playing over a "Network." If you're playing on a network, then one computer must select "Server" while the other selects "Client." The client must then enter the server's IP address and then click "Connect." The systems are now linked.

Tips & Warnings

  • The default version of Visual Boy Advance does not have the link option. You must download a custom versions, which is linked to below.
