How to Setup an HP LaserJet 4100PS for Double Sided Printing
Setting up the HP LaserJet 4100 for two sided printing is a fairly simple procedure. It requires installation of the optional duplexer and a change in the default settings of the printer itself. Both were designed to be installed by the printer's end-user and require no special technical proficiency or talents.

Installing the Duplexer

Turn off the printer and unplug it.

Remove the dust cover located on the back of the printer near it's base. You'll just need to pull it straight out of the back of the printer.

Remove the tape off the duplexer unit. Slide the duplexer into the rear of the printer (into the slot the dust cover had covered up). Plug in the printer and power it back on.
Changing the Default Settings for Duplex Printing

Press the "Menu" button on the right hand side of the control panel.

Using the arrows on the control panel, scroll down until you see the option for "Configure Device" on the display panel. Press the "Select" button on the control panel to choose that option.

Scroll down the list of options until you see "Printing." Click the "Select" button to choose this option. Scroll down the list of available options until you reach "Duplex" and press the "Select" button again to choose. Using the up and down arrows on the control panel to change the default to on, and then press the "Select" button to confirm.
