How to Reinstall WMIC

WMIC is the command line management tool for Windows Management Instrumentation, or WMI. WMI enables you to manage data and operation infrastructure on Windows operating systems. If you need to install or reinstall WMIC, download and install the WMIC toolkit, which contains the command line interface as well as other tools for interfacing with and browsing WMI (including CIM Studio) and WMI Object Browser.

      Close all open applications.

      Navigate to the Microsoft website and locate "WMI Administrative Tools" (see Resources).

      Click the "Download" link. You may run the program from its current location to automatically download and install the tool. Alternatively, you can save it to your desktop and double-click the .exe file to install the tool.

Tips & Warnings

  • WMIC and other WMI tools are supported only on Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.
