How to Tie Ribbons on a Banner
Decorating for a special event or holiday can transform an ordinary room into a festive showpiece. You can purchase party decorations at a party supply store, but you can save money and personalize the decorations easily by making them yourself. If you want to hang ribbon-covered banners, make them yourself using fabrics and craft supplies, which enables you to customize the banner with a phrase and as many ribbons as you like.

1
Cut a length of linen to measure the banner size you need. A standard-sized banner is roughly 24-by-48-in.
-
2
Cut different lengths of ribbon to measure 48-in. long. The more ribbons you cut, the fuller and more festive the finished banner will be. You can use a variety of materials, colors, patterns and widths.

-
3
Gather all of the ribbons together, and separate them into two even groups.
-
4
Grasp the first group in the center. Sew the middle of each ribbon together using a needle and thread. Repeat this process with the second group of ribbons.
-
5
Lay the banner flat and horizontal on a table or counter top.
-
6
Sew the middle of the first group of ribbons to the top left-hand corner. Sew the middle of the second group to the top right-hand corner. Sewing the ribbons--rather the simply tying--makes sure the ribbons will stay on the banner once displayed.
-
7
Write a message in the middle of the banner using paint pens or markers.
